The Austin Diary: Takeaways from Dell’s Partner Conference, Day 2

10 October 2018

Halian Group Sales Director Stuart Fry recently spent a few days in Austin, Texas, for the Dell Partner Conference. Day Two saw a fantastic keynote, and some big news for Halian…

At Halian, we’re proud of our Professional Services partnership with Dell. So it was a great experience to spend a few days out in Austin to discover more of the latest insights from their team. While I spent more of Day Two in some really productive 1-2-1 meetings, there were still a couple of major stand outs for me.

The day really started with a bang with our Keynote speaker being none other than Michael Dell. Joined by Doug Schmitt, President of Global Services, Michael set out some of Dell EMC’s vision, and covered hot industry topics ranging from big data to AI and IT transformation.

Michael started by saying that the goal of Dell EMC is to be perceived as “the first call for a CIO”. The future of business will be dominated by those with the best Intelligence, and with the explosion of Big Data, it’s clearer than ever that IT environments need to adapt and grow significantly. Michael also discussed the importance of partners having the speed to deliver successfully. He talked about how partners need to invest in AI and keep creating unique opportunities. A quote that sticks in the minds was this: “AI is the rocket ship and Data is the fuel”.

There was also some fantastic news for Halian on Day 2. It was announced that we have been selected as one of Dell’s ‘first choice partners’, of which there are just 60 worldwide. This recognition of Halian’s strength is reward for our unique way of partnering for the long term, and should be a source of pride for the whole business.

A fine day, and a highly enjoyable conference. Looking forward to the next one already!
