We are looking for a talented and passionate Software Development Lead to oversee and shape the development practices at Monument Insurance in Brussels or Liege. Your Mission
As the Software Development Lead, you will oversee the software development practice, align development standards with business objectives, and lead a talented team of engineers across our Individual Life and Corporate Life teams. You will work closely with Group IT to ensure the integration of global practices at the Belgian level while driving the adoption of new technologies and fostering team growth.
Your Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and manage software development teams (Individual Life & Corporate Life), supporting team leads and ensuring alignment between teams.
- Grow the development team by addressing performance issues, promoting a positive team dynamic, and ensuring cross-team collaboration.
- Drive Agile/Scrum delivery—launch and iterate regularly, ensuring the successful execution of development projects.
- Collaborate with the local IT team to define and implement SDLC processes and development best practices in line with group standards.
- Plan, prioritize, and allocate workloads for engineers, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
- Work closely with the Architecture team to translate business requirements into technical designs and specifications for engineering teams to execute.
- Partner with QA to create functional test cases, review testing, and ensure the quality of work performed by the engineering teams.
- Develop and enforce coding standards and best practices to maintain code quality and consistency.
Your Profile:
- 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience in software development within an object-oriented (OO) context, with experience in API development and consuming legacy Cobol applications.
- 4+ years of experience as a technical lead managing at least 10 full-time engineers in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Strong knowledge of software development processes (SDLC) and industry best practices.
- Expertise in OO programming, data structures, algorithms, and applying design patterns in software architecture.
- Full-stack development experience, with proficiency in technologies such as Delphi, .NET, and Agile software development management.
- Experience in Life Insurance is a plus, with the ability to translate business goals into effective technical solutions.
- High standards for unit testing, code reviews, test automation, continuous integration & deployment, with a strong preference for Agile methods.
- Fluency in English and French, both written and spoken.
