Technical Architect - Business Intelligence Hosting Services
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Architect to join our BI architecture team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, deployment, configuration and overall technical management of Microsoft (and Qlik as big plus) data integration solutions between on-premises infrastructure and our Cloud one. Additionally, ensuring seamless integration between cloud services like Power BI, and other Azure Data Analytics Services with on-premises data sources. The services you help to build will be consumed by internal customers to host a diverse range of information systems.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, deployment, configuration and overall technical management of Microsoft (and Qlik as big plus) data integration solutions between on-premises infrastructure and our Cloud one. Additionally, ensuring seamless integration between cloud services like Power BI, and other Azure Data Analytics Services with on-premises data sources. The services you help to build will be consumed by internal customers to host a diverse range of information systems.
Responsibilities:
- Design and Update:
- Technical design of a secured Microsoft On-Premises Data Gateway solution in line with common large enterprise standards.
- Manage Microsoft On-Premises Data Gateway clusters for high availability and load balancing.
- Handle technical continuous improvement of BI hosting services, incorporating new versions and functionalities.
- Develop technical architecture and design service delivery pipelines, including inventory, monitoring, etc.
- Ensure that service documentation is regularly updated and accurately reflects system configurations.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for architecture, configurations, and processes.
- Advisory Role:
- Provide expert advice on design and propose improvements to enhance service efficiency.
- Collaborate with developers and business analysts to support data integration scenarios using Power BI, PowerApps, and Azure Logic Apps.
- Optimize data source queries for better performance when accessed via the gateway.
- Train team members and stakeholders on gateway usage and troubleshooting techniques.
- Quality Assurance:
- Qualify new versions and patches through rigorous functional testing, performance testing, and security assessments.
- Work to improve operational efficiency by implementing automation and clear procedures for operational colleagues.
- Administration:
- Technical supervision on the installation and configuration of Microsoft On-Premises Data Gateway by the operations team and ensure its alignment with regular enterprise quality standards.
- Ensure proper connectivity between cloud services and on-premises data sources (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, etc.).
- Monitor the health and performance of the gateway and its associated services.
- Regularly update the gateway software to maintain compatibility and address security concerns.
- Ensure the security, reliability, and performance of cloud-based applications and services.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure and data gateways.
- Creating and managing connections to various data sources (e.g., SQL Server, SharePoint, Oracle).
- Scripting:
- Utilise scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python for various tasks and automation.
- Any knowledge with Jenkins, Ansible and Git is a plus
- Additional Technical Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of Power BI, PowerApps, Azure Synapse or Microsoft Fabric.
- Windows Server administration.
- Qlik Sense administration.
- Qualifications:
- Ability to work and communicate effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Service-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Initiative, accuracy, and attention to detail are essential.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required; proficiency in any other European language is a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT architecture within a medium to large IT environment.
