Role: Senior Data Engineer - Data Architect
Location: Doha, Qatar
Position Type: Full-Time / Onsite / Contract 1 year renewable
Language requirement: English language is required., Arabic is good to have but not mandatory.
Responsibilities
• Architect, design and implement Azure based data platforms, RDBMS, operational data store 
(ODS), data marts, modern data warehouse, and data lakes on target platforms.
• Lead the development and deployment of enterprise data models, data warehouse and data 
lakehouse using Azure cloud storage and services.
• Lead the design, development, and deployment of data ingestion, data pipelines and ETL/ELT
based data solutions. Translate business requirements into technical requirements.
• Define and govern solution architecture, design, standards, governance, tools, best practices, 
and own technical documentation.
• Drive standards across the project, establish appropriate procedures for data modelling, data 
ingestion, data products and packages.
• Interface with business and technical personnel to understand and integrate business needs 
from various business units, interpret those into technical design within the logical and physical 
data model and data pipelines.
• Manage model versioning and publish model management standards and practices for all types 
of data models including conceptual, logical and physical data models.
Qualifications
• A university degree in computer science or an MBA in Analytics or an approved equivalent 
combination of education and experience.
• Expert Knowledge of modern data warehouse & data lake design and implementation 
methodologies.
• Should be an expert in SQL programming language.
• Extensive knowledge and proven experience with relational SQL, NoSQL databases, and data 
lakes: Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB, Azure Data Lake and Azure Data Factory.
• Experience with data management and data governance tools such as Azure Purview.
• Experience with programming languages and scripting: Python, Scala, Java, bash, Azure CLI, 
PowerShell etc.
• Must have a strong understanding of CI/CD practices and technologies specifically Azure DevOps
• Experience with big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Storm, Hive, Hbase etc.
• Experience using SAP Hana and SAP BO/BODS applications. Demonstrated skills in writing and 
reverse engineering analytics views and SQL packages for data marts and reporting. Should be 
able to open SAP BODS and SAP Hana jobs and understand requirement.
• Experience in the development and maintaining WBS for delivery of project work packages and 
milestones.
• Work with client business stakeholders, business analysts and track leads to refine and confirm 
business requirements.
• Experience in Fit-Gap analysis, system use case reviews, requirements reviews, coding exercises 
and reviews.
• Demonstrated experience in creating both Functional Design Documents (FDD) & Detailed 
Design Documents (DDD)
• Should be able to translate business requirements into detailed Logical Data Model and Physical 
Data Model is mandatory.
• Demonstrated experience development of logical and physical design documents for different 
types of data models, solution architecture, and training materials.
• Expert knowledge of workload optimization, query performance, schema optimization and data 
engineering optimization best practices and methods
• Demonstrated experience in defining and executing tests across the development lifecycle (unit 
testing, system testing, user acceptance testing) and using results to refine database design.
• Must have previous work experience in conducting Knowledge Transfer and training sessions, 
ensuring the operations/support resources will receive the required knowledge to support the 
system after handover. 
• Participate in defect fixing, testing support and development activities for MS Azure services and 
tools. Assist with defect fixing and testing support for data models, data pipelines and Power BI 
reports
