We are looking for an experienced Senior WLAN Consultant to lead the design, deployment, and optimization of wireless networking solutions for our client in Al Khobar Saudi Arabia for a minimum 12-month contract. In this role, you will use your expertise in wireless LAN (WLAN) technologies to architect secure, scalable, and high-performance wireless networks that meet a variety of business needs.The ideal candidate has a proven track record in WLAN design, troubleshooting, and configuration, and can effectively communicate technical solutions to stakeholders at all levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design advanced WLAN solutions for enterprise-level environments, including site surveys, coverage mapping, and capacity planning to ensure reliable and high-performance wireless connectivity.
- Lead the deployment and configuration of WLAN networks using technologies like Wi-Fi 6, mesh networks, and controllers, ensuring seamless integration with wired infrastructure.
- Perform comprehensive wireless network assessments, analyzing performance, security, and coverage issues to recommend improvements or redesigns.
- Engage with clients to understand their business objectives, translating them into technical requirements for wireless networks that support both current and future demands.
- Implement and enforce WLAN security best practices, including WPA3, RADIUS authentication, and intrusion prevention systems to safeguard wireless environments.
- Work with leading WLAN vendors (e.g., Cisco, Aruba, Ruckus, Meraki) to select and implement the most suitable wireless technologies for client needs.
- Use WLAN monitoring tools to troubleshoot performance issues, optimize network coverage, and ensure a seamless user experience across wireless devices.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation, including WLAN designs, configurations, testing protocols, and support procedures.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers, ensuring knowledge transfer and skill development in wireless networking technologies.
- Manage end-to-end WLAN projects, including site surveys, procurement, installation, and post-deployment support, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in WLAN design, configuration, and troubleshooting, particularly in enterprise environments.
- Extensive experience with wireless networking standards (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax) and protocols.
- Expertise in WLAN hardware and software from leading vendors such as Cisco, Aruba, Ruckus, and Meraki.
- Strong knowledge of wireless security protocols (WPA2/WPA3, 802.1X, RADIUS) and best practices for securing WLAN environments.
- Experience with wireless network design tools like Ekahau, AirMagnet, or similar tools for site surveys and RF planning.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and optimize WLAN performance in complex, high-density environments (e.g., campuses, stadiums, or large enterprises).
- Wireless certifications such as CWNA, CWDP, CWAP, or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with transmission technologies such as SDH, OTN, and DWDM
- In-depth knowledge of the latest WAN transport protocols like MPLS, SR-MPLS, and SRv6
