Senior Data Engineer (m/f/d)

As part of a major initiative to centralize data acquisition and develop a next-generation real-world data analytics platform, we are seeking a Senior Data Engineer. The platform, based on Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft OneLake, will support large-scale healthcare data processing, including claims, patient-reported outcomes, and electronic health records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize data pipelines using Python, SQL, and Azure Pipelines.
  • Standardize datasets following the OMOP Common Data Model and implement data tokenization when required.
  • Support real-world data statisticians by creating patient cohorts and developing data visualizations (Power BI, Python Dash, R Shiny).
  • Manage data ingestion from providers using Azure or AWS, ensuring transformation and structured storage.
  • Implement data validation and quality checks to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Assist in integrating third-party systems with the data platform.
  • Work closely with biostatisticians, data scientists, and RWE experts to define and refine data needs.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, user guides, and best practices for data handling.

Required Skills 

? 8+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or data science
? Strong proficiency in Python, R, SQL for data manipulation and analysis
? Deep understanding of data architectures (data warehouses, lakehouses, data pipelines)
? Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (Azure Data Factory, Data Lake)
? Experience working with real-world healthcare data (claims, EHR, PROs)
? Knowledge of SAS, Aetion, or similar RWE analytics platforms
? Familiarity with firewall, access control, and system integration principles
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric & Microsoft OneLake
  • Background in pharmaceutical, biopharma, or healthcare analytics
