Objectives of this role
- Run all Property Finder’s environments by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health
- Build software and systems to manage Property Finder’s platform and applications
- Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of software solutions
- Measure and optimise system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating for continual improvement
- Provide primary operational support and engineering for multiple large-scale distributed software applications Responsibilities
- Act as first point of contact for incidents and work with Product squads for resolution within defined SLOs.
- Gather and analyze metrics from operating systems as well as applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding
- Partner with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures
- Improve SDLC through post-incident reviews and process - technical adjustments
- Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning
- Create sustainable systems and services in order to improve team efficiency through automation and uplifts
- Balance feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service-level objectives
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science or related discipline
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools, such as Cloudwatch and Datadog
- Understanding of SLIs, SLOs and SLAs and how to implement metrics to capture and visualise those.
- Ability to program using one or more high-level languages, such as Python, GoLang or TypeScript
- Experience with cloud compute technologies and architecture, specifically, AWS, using Kubernetes and Serverless environments.
- Proactive approach to identifying problems, performance bottlenecks, and areas for improvement to build resilient systems through consistent communication channels with developers and stakeholders.
- Previous success in technical engineering
- Coding experience beyond simple scripts
- Knowledge about load testing tools and how to implement load testing.
- Knowledge about database management systems, MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB and general differences between MySQL and NoSQL.
