Background

As the market leader in enterprise application software, SAP helps global businesses fight the damaging effects of complexity and drive innovation and growth. By delivering consulting services and local industry expertise, Implementation Partners play a critical role in helping organisations identify, purchase, and implement the ideal SAP solutions for their clients on-going business needs. And with Halian’s depth of SAP resources, the collaboration of all three parties offers a clear path to staying ahead of the competition and improved bottom-line performance.

Challenge

Our customer is a global SAP Implementation Partner with a 25-year track record of successful SAP projects and solutions. In late 2014, they were awarded the third phase roll-out of SAP for a major oil and gas producer in Doha, Qatar. The key modules to be delivered in this implementation phase included Human Resources and Human Capital Management (HCM), Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), IS-Oil, Business Intelligence (BI), and Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC). The
key challenge for our customer was to identify and mobilise the industry and function-specific SAP consultants to deliver the programme within tight financial constraints and a strict timeline.

Solution

Halian know how to deliver global SAP expertise quickly, on time and on budget, by cutting through complexity without cutting corners. Working closely with the Implementation Partner’s Engagement Manager, Halian appointed our own SAP Practice Manager to spearhead the mobilisation of a 12-man team of Project Leaders to oversee the delivery of the key module work streams using the Accelerated SAP (ASAP) project implementation methodology. An additional team of 12 consultants provided functional skills on modules and technical expertise in BASIS Infrastructure design on Oracle (database), UNIX/AIX platform (Operating System), ABAP, Workflow, Authorisation & Portal.
Our dedicated SAP Practice takes responsibility for screening, interviewing, relocating, and on-boarding our staff to make the whole process of getting the right people in play run smoothly.

Outcome

In the current era of falling energy prices, oil and gas producers are inevitably looking to identify and achieve organisational efficiencies and bottom line financial savings through real-time, 360-degree insights into their key business functions. The combination of SAP’s enterprise applications software solutions, Implementation Partner’s industry-specific skills, and Halian’s resourcing expertise has turned this goal into reality.

Working within a highly competitive pricing model and under strict conditions, Halian have successfully brought on-board the first team of Project Leaders and is now engaged on an annual contract to deliver all 24 key consultants for this phase of the roll-out programme. All work streams are delivered using the current ASAP methodology and SAP Solution Manager toolset. The programme is well on its way to deliver the anticipated efficiency benefits.
